Background

I am from Mauritius, a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean known for its beautiful beaches and leisure tourism. With the thriving tourism industry, I got on the business studies wagon and stayed strong until I majored in Business Administration (BBA), securing a First class degree with distinction and achieved the highest academic standing in my graduating class.

What fueled my passion for marketing?

My passion for marketing stemmed from my journey as an entrepreneur. I was already involved in multiple business ventures by the age of 20. I surfed multiple business waves such as retailing accessories, clothes and even snacks before I started my digital business!

The one thing that was always contributed to the success of my business ventures was marketing! During my last semester in college, I studied marketing more in-depth and felt enormous satisfaction in learning the methods used to attract, convert and retain customers. That was it! I knew what I had to do – become a marketer…

How I got into digital marketing?

I was always fascinated by social media and the internet. I thought that it was the best combination ever – the internet and marketing. We no longer had to do “blind” marketing as we could easily target our audience through ads and get to our ideal customers.

This was a no-brainer for me – I had to get into digital marketing. Plus, many firms were already shifting a major portion of their marketing budget to digital marketinf which was also an indication that this field was growing! I did not think twice before applying for a job as digital marketing assistant in a UK marketing agency.

A peak into my digital marketing journey

I was so passionate about digital marketing that upon 3 months of joining the marketing agency, I got a promotion to campaign strategist. I was already creating and managing ad campaigns on my own bringing in new optimisation strategies to the team.

After 1.5 years, I was promoted to digital marketing strategist effectively managing clients advertising portfolios and strategizing with them for better results. My daily interactions with clients shaped who I am today and turned me into a digital marketing enthusiast. The results they were getting was absolutely incredible.

How did I become certified in digital marketing?

Getting certified as a digital marketer was one of my goals. To fulfill this goal, I looked for reputable certifications that were recognised around the world and improved my skills and knowledge significantly in the digital marketing field. That’s when I stumbled upon The Digital Marketing Institute (UK) which is the leading digital marketing educational institution in the world.

I enrolled and completed my digital marketing professional certification. It was such an enriching experience. I also took the Meta Digital Marketing Associate Certification and passed with flying colors.

How did I become a digital entrepreneur?

Following the pandemic, I realised that no job was secure given the amount of people who lost their job. So I set myself on a journey to discover the best ways to start a business online.

Being a digital marketer, I love the concept of doing a business that requires no physical inventory and can be sold on the internet. I started affiliate marketing and was satisfied with my results.

However, I wanted to go deeper into the dynamics of a digital business and decided to start selling my own digital products. With the advent of AI, the opportunities are bigger than ever which is why I started this blog.

Challenges

Living with ADHD has been both a challenge and a catalyst in my journey. I’ve always been a whirlwind of energy and ideas, which can be both a blessing and a bit of a bane.

Focusing on one task at a time often felt like trying to catch a butterfly in a hurricane. In the early days of my career, I struggled with the constant tug-of-war between my racing thoughts and the need for structure. But, as with any challenge, it became a driving force for creativity and innovation in my work.

I learned to harness my hyperfocus during campaigns, diving deep into projects with a passion that sometimes surprised even me. Embracing my ADHD has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the art of turning what some might see as a limitation into a unique strength.

Future goals and mission

Now that I am a certified digital marketing professional, my aim is to share my knowledge with people who need it and to focus on Meta Technologies solely – Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Whatsapp. My journey as a digital entrepreneur is what triggered my passion for organic marketing. I realised that organic marketing is the solution for small business owners who do not have the resources for paid ads. In fact, organic marketing is a long term strategy that contribute to better results for your business. Additionally, as someone who has navigated the challenges of ADHD, I am committed to developing strategies that empower others with similar experiences, helping them harness their unique strengths in the digital marketing landscape.
